Mathie to Colchester - Ipswich Town News
Former Town man Alex Mathie is the latest former Town man being linked with Colchester United. Mathie, who memorably scored a hat-trick in Town's superb 5-0 demolition of Nationwide League Division One side Norwich City three years ago, never really settled with his subsequent club Dundee United and now seems destined to join a host of old comrades.
The striker left Portman Road in October 1998 for a fee of either £700,000 or £500,000 depending on who you believed. Mathie spent some time on loan at Preston last season, but they chose not to take him on long term. Dundee United placed him on the transfer list earlier this week.
