Bart-Williams Misses Trip - Ipswich Town News

Fabian Wilnis and Tommy Miller are both fit enough to be in the Town squad travelling to Burnley for Saturday's game, having recovered from shoulder and ankle injuries respectively. However, Chris Bart-Williams misses out on the visit to Turf Moor due to his back problem.

The former Charlton man's injury would not be helped by a lengthy coach journey, so the Town management decided that he should remain behind.

Aside from Bart-Williams, Chris Makin remains the only senior player on the sidelines. The full-back is continuing to progress well and could be involved in the reserves in two weeks' time.

The Town party travel to Lancashire this afternoon for a game from which Joe Royle says his side need to gain three points: "We've got to win it and keep winning. We're back in the top six and we need to stay there at least, although I'm not giving up on the top two. We need another run like the one pre-Christmas.

"Apart from the first six games our run hasn't been bad at all, although we still have our detractors.”

Royle knows Clarets' boss Stand Ternent well and says his side will not be an easy team to defeat: "Burnley are hard to beat and well organised. They have plenty of spirit and should not be underestimated.

"The 6-1 earlier in the season was a bit hard on them and that won't make it any easier for us.”

The returning Wilnis is likely to take over at right-back with former Burnley man Drissa Diallo probably dropping to the bench with John McGreal and Richard Naylor the central defenders.

Up front Darren Bent and Shefki Kuqi will continue their impressive pairing from last week's win against Bradford. In midfield skipper Jim Magilton, Tommy Miller, Jermaine Wright and Ian Westlake are likely to keep their places.

Burnley have no new injury or suspension concerns, Graham Branch being their only first-team player on the sidelines due calf problem. Defender Arthur Gnohere joined QPR this week.

Saturday's referee is Mike Dean. The Wirral official has shown 73 yellow cards and seven red in 23 games this season. He last refereed Town in the 2-1 loss at Aston Villa in December 2001.

Squad: Bent, Bowditch, Couñago, Davis, Diallo, Kuqi, Magilton, McGreal, Miller, Naylor, Price, Reuser, Richards, Santos, Westlake, Wilnis and Wright.
