U19s Win - Ipswich Town News

Town's U19 side beat second-placed Charlton 2-0 in the FA Premier Academy League. Goals from striker Craig Reid and midfielder Cathal Lordan gave the
youngsters a big confidence boost.

Reid struck on six minutes, picking up a pass from new boy Ben Patten, who signed from Ford United during the week. Reid volleyed home with great ability.

The same player almost doubled Town's advantage just before the break as the young Blues dominated proceedings.

The young Addicks were only allowed one clear strike at goal throughout the 90 minutes, with Patten and Jerome Sobers doing well at the back.

Town's goalie Scott Peat was up for the match too, making a brilliant save and straight from the clearance came Town's second.

Irish midfielder Cathal Lordan finished well from the edge of the box with ten minutes to go, which left U19 coach Ian Smith delighted with the performance and the result. He also commented on how well Patten and Sobers played at the back, and he also thought Town deserved the win.
