Another Loanee to Sign? - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Joe Royle says he is hopeful that he might get another loan player in ahead of Tuesday's game against Walsall at the Bescot Stadium. Royle has two targets in mind but is only looking for one more addition to his squad.

The Blues' manager said: "We're still trying to get one more player in on loan. I haven't given up on getting someone else in ahead of Walsall.

"It's a possibility, but I don't want to raise expectations. There are still two possibilities, although we would only take one of them.”

Yesterday, Matt Elliott joined for a month, the Leicester man's recent involvement in the La Manga legal case having prevented him signing at an earlier date.

Royle says his problems in landing his target will now have become clear: "The problems we've had are somewhat obvious now. I've been trying for over three weeks to bring Matt in, since before we went to Tenerife.

"First Leicester weren't quite sure they could let him out, then we went away. Then Matt's gone away with Leicester. He's totally clear of any problems relating to that, but nevertheless he was taken in initially.

"But he's here now and we're delighted to have him. He's a leader, he loves heading the ball clear, he has loads of experience and he's an international footballer. He's keen to come and play as he's not played that much this season for Leicester .

"He's come here initially on a one-month loan and we'll see from there.

"He's played in a back four, a back three, he's played for his country and he's a leader, a leader by example, which will be useful. He's a talker and an organiser.”

In the Sunday tabloids Town were linked with Manchester United youngster Michael Stewart, however, the Town boss says there is no truth in the report.
