Dutch Keeper Has Trial - Ipswich Town News

Young FC Zwolle goalkeeper Sven Veldhuizen has revealed that he has spent four days on trial with the Town academy. Recently celebrating his 19th birthday, Veldhuizen is highly-rated in Holland and says he hopes the Blues will retain their interest in him.

The Dutchman says he discovered differences between football in Holland and in the UK while at Town: "In England there is a different way of training. It was something exciting. There the goalkeepers start up every attack, with a long ball.

"Furthermore the playing level during the training is much higher. Also the specific goalkeeping training is different from that in the Netherlands."

Veldhuizen, who plays for Zwolle's senior youth side, watched the West Brom game and was impressed: "Furthermore the English have a much better match mentality. I watched Ipswich against West Bromwich Albion and what a fantastic game! After 90 minutes the score was 2-2.

"In Holland you would expect consolidation at this score, but both teams attacked more. Unfortunately West Brom scored in injury time to make it 3-2."

The keeper, who has not yet made an appearance for the Zwolle first team, says he was pleased with the way his spell with Town went: "I was very satisfied with my performances in training and hope the club will follow me in the future."

Zwolle are currently bottom of the Eredivisie, the top division in Holland, and look set to be relegated.

Meanwhile, released Town academy striker Sam Morrow played 72 minutes of a reserve game for Stockport at Macclesfield but failed to find the net in a 1-1 draw.
