U19s Face Palace - Ipswich Town News

Town's U19s play their final game of the season today, away at Crystal Palace. Ian Smith's side have no chance of qualifying for the play-offs currently eighth in their Premier Academy League section.

Back with the U19s are Darryl Knights and Owen Garvan who have been away on international duty.

Knights scored two goals for the England U16s at the Tournoi de Montaigu in France during the Easter period. The English side lost 1-0 to the Ivory Coast but then beat the US 3-1, Knights netting.

The last group game ended 3-2 to Italy with Knights again on target before England lost the fifth/sixth play-off 2-1 against France.

Striker Garvan has been away with the Ireland U16s at the Castelo Blanco Tournament in Portugal.

Four of Town's other Irish lads have received an international call-up. Striker Billy Clarke - said by academy director Bryan Klug to be ahead of Dean Bowditch at this stage of his development - along with keeper Shane Supple, midfielder Cathal Lordan and full-back Michael Synnott are all included in an U17s party for some friendly matches in Turkey.

Town's U18s have returned from their involvement in the Memorial Claudio Sassi tournament in Modena, Italy.

After a victory over US side New York Pro Zone (2-0 - Billy Clarke and a Liam Craig penalty), the Blues drew 0-0 with Bologna before losing 0-1 to another Italian side Castelfranco.
