July Date for Magpies - Ipswich Town News

This summer's Dale Roberts testimonial match against Newcastle has been provisionally set for Wednesday, July 28th. Town coach and player Dale lost his fight against cancer just over a year ago.

Former Town boss George Burley, a great friend of Dale's, has been involved in the organisation of the match and other events, including a sporting dinner at the County Hotel in Copdock next Monday where Peter Reid will be amongst the speakers.

A golf day has also been arranged for Wednesday, May 19th.

Town's pre-season programme is as yet still largely unknown, although the Blues will definitely face Ford United, who by then will have changed their name to Redbridge FC, at their Oakside Stadium in Barkingside on Saturday, July 24th.

A friendly away against Cork City has also been mooted but not yet confirmed, while one of the two home friendlies with Lazio - part of the deal which saw Matteo Sereni leave the club - is expected to take place.
