John Scales Column - Ipswich Town News

This week's column has just been updated on the site.

Here is an extract:

There is great competition for places and that was illustrated by the manager being able to take off his front two during the match. There is competition all over the field, maybe not so much in midfield, but certainly up front and at the back. It can be frustrating for those on the sidelines that aren't involved. I am incredibly frustrated that I can't get back into the side, but I haven't got any complaints, that's the trouble! What can I do!? I am full of admiration for the way the lads are playing, but at the same time I want to get my opportunity to get back into that team. I understand that I have to be patient, bide my time, and then when I get an opportunity I have to take it. There will be a time when players go through a loss of form, or pick up an injury. That's all part of football and it's completely out of my control. Any manager will say that (1) he wants a fit squad of players which we've got, and (2) competition for places, and he's also got that. That's really part of the driving force behind the team at the moment too.
