Come and Gert Me - Ipswich Town News

Belgian international Gert Verheyen issued a “come and get me” plea to Town manager George Burley.

The Club Brugge winger said: "I think it is not finished. There is a rumour that another English club is interested. I don’t know if that is true, but it doesn’t matter, I have set my mind on playing for Ipswich.

"I think Ipswich have made a very fair offer. It’s a lot of money considering my age and the situation in the transfer market. Maybe it’s just a game with Brugge trying to raise the price. If Ipswich came again, I think they will do business.”

Whether Town try again for the midfielder remains to be seen. An improved bid may tempt the Belgian club to selling, and Burley may find it difficult to find a suitable player at the £2 million mark elsewhere.

The club have already failed in bids to land Claus Jensen and Hassan Kachloul and are keen to strengthen this area that has only limited cover.
