Bramble 1 - 1 Germany - Ipswich Town News
George Burley was in the stands tonight as Titus Bramble won his second cap for the England U21s. He watched as his young star headed England in front just on half time, after a free kick was whipped in from the left by Carrick. Titus left his marker and headed superbly to the keepers left.
Stephen Wright was sent off for a tackle from behind on 65 minutes, which made England's cause more difficult. Germany equalised in the 86th minute when the keeper failed to hold a drive from a corner. The ball came out and Ernst was the first to react.
There were two occasions when the ball appeared to cross the line for an England goal, one more clear cut than the other, but Howard Wilkinson had to be content with a draw. It wasn't the greatest of games, with the quality of the final ball lacking, and play breaking down too easily.
Titus played well, although had two lapses of concentration which fortunately weren't punished. He can be proud of his contribution, and a scoring record of 50% isn't bad for a central defender!
