Yallop Backed De Vos Move - Ipswich Town News

New Town signing Jason De Vos has revealed that former Blue and current Canada coach Frank Yallop helped him make up his mind to move to Portman Road. Earlier today De Vos agreed to join the Blues ahead of Cardiff, Stoke and former club Wigan.

De Vos told the club site that he consulted two former Town players before making his decision: "I spoke to Frank Yallop and Alan Mahon and they both had nothing but positive things to say about the club.

"Frank really urged me to join Ipswich actually. He said the club was a great one to play for and that it would be the right move for me to make."

The 30-year-old, who has captained Canada in recent matches, was given a look around the club and town by Joe Royle and was impressed with what he saw: "The manager outlined his plans here and showed me around the stadium and the training ground and even took me for a drive around the town as well, and everything looks great.

"The facilities are first class and from what I have seen of the town it looks the perfect area for my wife and I to bring up a family.

"I played for Wigan at Portman Road in February and the place really impressed me then. There was a great atmosphere at the ground and the pitch was superb, and those factors were on my mind when I heard Ipswich were interested in me so it didn't take me long to decide that this was the club for me."

De Vos has now joined Yallop and the rest of the Canada squad ahead of their game with Wales in Wrexham on Sunday. They then face the San Jose Earthquakes in a friendly before two home matches with Belize in the World Cup (see previous story).

He will be in Ipswich on June 18th, ready to start pre-season training on June 28th.
