Barnett: Jamma Interest - Ipswich Town News

Town midfielder Jermaine Wright is a target of a number of Premiership sides, according to his agent Jonathan Barnett. Wright's contract is up at the end of June and last week he was offered a new terms at Portman Road.

Barnett says he has been in discussions with Town regarding the 28-year-old's future: "We are negotiating with Ipswich at the moment and our talks are going quite well, but there are obviously other clubs who have expressed an interest in Jermaine, some of them in the Premiership.

"We are looking at ways of him staying at Portman Road, but I don't see the situation being resolved in the short term.”

Barnett has not named any of the interested parties, although Southampton were recently linked.

Wright's agent also acts for striker Darren Bent, in addition to a number of former Town players including Richard Wright, Titus Bramble and Matt Holland.

Barnett says the young striker's availability is in the hands of the Portman Road management: "Only Ipswich can decide Darren's future. He is under contract to them and it will be up to them how they handle any offers that may come in.

"Darren is certainly not saying he wants to get away - he is just heartbroken that he failed to do himself justice as he and Ipswich missed out on promotion to the Premiership.”

Bent has been linked with a number of Premiership clubs - most notably Newcastle and Southampton - while his goalscoring for the Blues and the England U21s has not gone unnoticed by some Serie A clubs.
