Makin on Way Back - Ipswich Town News

Town full-back Chris Makin is continuing his recovery from the hip injury which saw him miss the vast majority of 2003/04. The former Sunderland man is working on his fitness, along with fellow injury victims Antonio Murray and Gerard Nash.

Murray has been suffering with shin splints, while Nash underwent the second cruciate ligament operation of his short career.

Makin told the club site that he is making progress: "We are working with Simon Thadani, the fitness coach, and it's going OK at the moment.

"It's hard work but everything seems to be going well and it's a case of continuing the rehab and building up my fitness all through the summer.

"Looking back on last season, it was a nightmare for me and there were times when I was seriously worried about my career.

"I was so relieved when the surgeon found the tear in my hip in the second operation and now I'm heading in the right direction and want to get back playing as soon as I can."

Makin has indicated that he intends to sign the two-month deal he has been offered in order for him to prove his fitness. A further deal is all but certain should he show he is over his injury problems.
