Town will face newly-promoted Crystal Palace in a home pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 24th. Iain Dowie's side grabbed the final 2004/05 Premiership place last month, beating West Ham 1-0 in the play-off final at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
The visit of Palace means that the game at Redbridge FC — until recently known as Ford United - on the same day will see a Town reserve side in action. That game has been arranged as part of the deal which saw Jerome Sobers and Ben Patten move to Portman Road earlier this year.
Town's home game against top European opposition now looks likely to take place on Monday, August 2nd and not the previous Saturday as previously expected. Lazio seem certain to be the side up against the Blues, the Rome club having agreed to play two Portman Road friendlies over the next couple of years as part of the Matteo Sereni transfer.
In addition to those matches, Town will also play friendlies with Peterborough United (London Road, Saturday, July 10th) and Barnet (Underhill, Wednesday, July 21st). The Blues face Newcastle at Portman Road in Dale Roberts's testimonial on Wednesday, July 28th.
As well as the Redbridge FC game, the reserves travel to Leiston Town for a friendly on Friday, July 16th.
