Osman: Gerrard's the Man - Ipswich Town News

Former Town and England man Russell Osman says that Steven Gerrard could be one of the big stars of Euro 2004. Osman will be a pundit for Eurosport who will show a number of live games during the tournament in Portugal.

The ex-TWTD columnist said: "I think Gerrard could be awesome this summer. He has had a strong season with Liverpool and been a major player with them.

"He is over all the injury problems which stopped him developing and I think the time is right for him to go on and be a star."

Osman isn't overly concerned about the recent formation furore which has surrounded England's build-up: "I don't think it is about the tactics. It has to be about the players. You have to go with your best XI and hope that they perform.

"Despite not having a natural left-sided player, we still have plenty of guys who are on the top of their game."

Osman, who won 11 England caps, will be back at Portman Road on Friday 27th August (7.30pm) as the latest ex-player to take part in one of the club's 'An Evening With...' presentations, an event postponed from Friday, 11th June.

Tickets are ÂŁ19.95 and are available from Jemma on (01473) 400510/523.
