Bowden: More Gigs - Ipswich Town News
Town chief executive Derek Bowden has confirmed that Portman Road will host more events like Wednesday night's Elton John concert. More than 22,000 people - including former Town manager George Burley and ex-skipper Matt Holland - watched the veteran singer's Portman Road performance.
Bowden told the club site that the evening was ahighly successful: "It was a great night and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
"It's the first time the club have held a concert for about 10 years now and we are delighted with the way things went.
"We will be looking at next year and possibly holding two weeks of events, including another megastar act with perhaps four or five smaller concerts, classical and pop.”
Town are thought to have made a six-figure sum from Wednesday's concert.
