Town manager Joe Royle says he expects out of contract trio Jim Magilton, Richard Naylor and Fabian Wilnis to sign one-year deals with the club. Royle plans to meet with Chris Makin regarding him turning down his initial two-month short-term deal in the next 24 hours.
The Town boss told the club site: "I have spoken to Jim and Richard and the signs are encouraging. I am as confident as I can be that they will sign, 99 per cent sure.
"Fabian Wilnis has also indicated that he will be staying but the players are still contracted to the club until the end of the month anyway, so we will see what happens then."
Royle says he will speak with Makin tomorrow: "I was surprised when Chris turned down the contract but I have not had time to sit down with him today and discuss the situation further. That will probably happen on Tuesday."
Town began their pre-season programme with a session at Portman Road this morning and at Playford Road this afternoon.
