Reuser Set for Pay-Off - Ipswich Town News

Town midfielder Martijn Reuser is likely to receive a pay-off in the region of £300,000 if he agrees to move to Dutch side Willem II. The one-time Holland international is in talks with the Eredivisie club this week and is expected to join them on a free transfer.

Reuser still has one year left on his lucrative Town deal which was signed in the summer of 2001 during Town's Premiership spell.

The Dutchman wants to leave Portman Road to make more first team starts but will have to take a massive pay-cut to sign for Willem II.

The former Ajax and Vitesse man is understood to earn something around £600,000-a-year with the Blues, while Willem II's top earners receive just £170,000.

As with the previous settlement of Finidi George's contract, Town are likely to offer around half the value of his remaining year, paid over a longer period.

The Nigerian had two years of his £1 million-a-year deal left when he departed last summer, and is receiving £1 million paid over 18 months.
