De Vos Can Play at Derby - Ipswich Town News
New Town signing Jason De Vos has allayed fears that his Canada career could cause him to miss Town's trip to Derby on August 14th. Canada have a World Cup qualifier with Guatemala four days later and several clubs were concerned that their players would be unavailable due to FIFA's five-day rule.
The rule states that international managers have the right to demand their players five days before competitive matches.
However, De Vos says that Canada boss and former Blue Frank Yallop will be lenient: "Frank knows the situation we are in because he had the same situation when he was with Ipswich and was called up. It doesn't make much difference if we report in four days before the game rather than five.
"So he is going to allow us to play for our clubs on Saturday and then get into Vancouver on Sunday night, train Monday and Tuesday, play Wednesday and fly back as quick as we can so we will be available on the Saturday."
