Pablo to Play at Oxford - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Joe Royle says that striker Pablo Couñago will get his chance to shine in the friendly at Oxford United on Tuesday night. The Spaniard has had a lean time of it so far in pre-season.

Royle says the ex-Celta Vigo player was nearer his better form in the most recent game against AaB Aalborg: "At his best Pablo can be a big asset to us.

"He will have a chance to show us at Oxford what he can do. He looked a bit sharper when he came on against Aalborg and hopefully Pablo can help get us back on the goal trail after a couple of barren matches.

"He played his part last season when we were the division's top scorers."

Royle says he has a number of players in mind as he searches to add to his strikers: "I know who I would like to sign to make us a bigger force up front - players with a better ability to hold the ball."

Keeper Kelvin Davis is likely to be back in action at the Kassam Stadium after missing out at Aalborg due to a back injury which now appears to be OK.

Skipper Jim Magilton will be returning to one of his former clubs.
