Robson Slams Boos Culture - Ipswich Town News

Former Town boss Sir Bobby Robson has slammed his old fans for booing Newcastle United's Craig Bellamy during last night's Dale Roberts testimonial. Bellamy, an ex-Norwich player, was booed throughout Town's 2-1 win over the Magpies.

Robson said after the game: "I didn't bring my team down here to listen to that sort of thing.

"There was no place for it on a night like this."

Former Town defender Titus Bramble was similarly unhappy with the treatment meted out to Bellamy: "We were all disappointed and especially the manager. It was a testimonial game for Dale and his family, and the booing was disrespectful to them."

Bellamy himself said he had anticipated some antipathy from the home support: "I expected it. But hopefully I reacted the right way.

"All the Newcastle players knew what this game was all about and it was disappointing that some people behaved the way they did."
