Ipswich Res 0 - Arsenal Res 3 - Ipswich Town News

Whilst the scoreline may flatter the London club, Arsenal certainly did deserve the victory as they had more chances, and ran the midfield. None of the players on this showing alone deserve to make the first eleven on Saturday, but was a good run-out, keeping the fitness levels high.

Conodille started the scoring for Arsenal after a cross from Pennant. Nobel doubled the lead by taking the ball half the length of the pitch and scoring with a 25 yard rasper. Their third came from 5'6" Kuffour heading in a cross from Pennant.

Town did have their chances, most notably coming in the second half when Town upped their game. Scowcroft had a certain goal cleared off the line following a Reuser corner, but should have done better from a Friars cross when he found himself in an excellent position. Johnson also had a few chances in the first, before being taken off at half time.

A good attendance of 3003 saw Karic go just over the bar with a 25 yard free kick, but he had a frustrating night marking the lively Pennant.

The Team: Salmon, Croft, Karic, Miller, Scales, Abidalah (Nicholls 60), Reuser, Logan, Johnson (Midgely 45), Scowcroft and Friars.
