Four-Up for Horlock? - Ipswich Town News

Summer signing Kevin Horlock is aiming for his fourth promotion from Division One (now the Championship) when the Blues kick-off their season at home to Gillingham on Saturday.

Horlock was first promoted with Swindon back in 92/93 and then twice with Manchester City, the first time in 99/00 with Joe Royle at the helm, having previously helped City to elevation from Division Two, scoring in that famous play-off semi-final against Town's weekend opponents Gillingham.

Two years later Horlock and City, by then managed by Kevin Keegan, were back on the promotion trail again.

The Northern Irish international told the club site that morale will be an important factor in getting promoted: "There are two main things I think you need to have a chance of going up - consistency and team spirit.

"Obviously time will tell whether we have the first but from I have seen around the place since I have been here, we certainly have the second.

"When we were promoted at Manchester City, there was a real togetherness in the dressing room and it's the same here; everyone is pulling in the same direction.

"If you have that spirit within the squad, you have a chance of doing well and, along with the talented players we have at this club, and the youngsters that are coming through, I'm confident we can be involved in the promotion chase at the end of the season."
