De Vos Wants to Play On - Ipswich Town News

Canadian central defender Jason De Vos says he wants to play on despite a bone scan showing that he has a small hairline fracture to a fibula. The 30-year-old picked up the injury in the friendly with Osasuna but the extent of the problem was only shown by the scan carried out when the former Wigan man was with the Canada squad.

De Vos is due to return from Vancouver early and says he wants to stay in the Town side despite the problem: "I have played three games with the injury now and, if the medical staff say it would not do any further damage, then I would play against Cardiff.

"The worst possible scenario is that I'm not allowed to play, but even then I would be out for days or weeks rather than months."

Meanwhile, Saturday's opponents Cardiff have a few injury worries of their own. The Bluebirds' main goal threat, striker Robert Earnshaw, has pulled out of the Welsh squad facing Latvia due to a knee injury but Lennie Lawrence is hopeful he will be fit for Saturday.

Paul Parry (knee) and Danny Gabbidon (foot) were also forced out of the Welsh party but are both in with a chance of being involved on Saturday.

Lawrence expects to welcome Willie Boland and Peter Thorne back into his squad after their recent hip and neck injuries.
