Nothing New on Verheyen - Ipswich Town News

Town manager George Burley has said that nothing new has happened on the Gert Verheyen front (see most of this month's early stories). It now seems unlikely that the Belgian will join the Blues and the Town boss is looking elsewhere for that elusive attacking midfielder: "I still think we need another quality player to complete the jigsaw for the season. Finding the right player for the right price is the problem."

Burley also admitted a previously unknown attempt to sign Chelsea's promising wing-back Jon Harley in the summer. Harley, who scored on his debut for loan side Wimbledon at the weekend, is well back in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and Burley thought the player may be available: "I tried to sign him over the summer but Chelsea wouldn't sell him at any price."

The reserves are in action this evening at West Ham (Upton Park, 7pm). Players like Martijn Reuser and Gary Croft will be looking to impress George Burley, while others like Manu Thetis and Neil Midgely will be hoping to impress other managers as both are desperate for loan moves. Former Town man Craig Forrest will not be involved for the opposition as he has recently undergone a hernia operation. Full squad: Salmon, Karic, J Miller, Bramble, Thetis, Reuser, Nicholls, Logan, Midgley, Friars, Artun, Niemi, Snowdon, Mayes and Burton.

Town's victory at Valley Parade on Saturday was their third Premiership away win on the trot. This is the first time Town have managed this feat in all their three and a bit seasons as a Premiership side.
