Bent Scores Late Again - Ipswich Town News

Town striker Darren Bent scored his by now obligatory late goal as the England U21s beat Austria 2-0 in Krems. Bent netted in the 89th minute after coming on as a sub for Blackburn's Jon Stead.

Aston Villa striker Carlton Cole had put England ahead just after the half hour.

Bent has now scored four goals in seven appearances for the side again managed by Peter Taylor.

He scored late on in the games against Serbia and Montenegro and Holland, both played at Hull, and more recently in the match against the Ukraine at Middlesbrough.

Town midfielder Ian Westlake was in the squad but wasn't named amongst the substitutes.

England face Poland in Rybnik in their next qualifier on Tuesday.

U21s: Scott Carson, Nicky Hunt, Leighton Baines, Anton Ferdinand, Calum Davenport, Nigel Reo-Coker, Jermaine Pennant (Justin Hoyte 90), Gary O'Neil, Carlton Cole, Jonathan Stead (Darren Bent 66), Stewart Downing (James Milner 74).
