Willhire Cup For Sale - Ipswich Town News
The Willhire Cup, the trophy which awaited the winners of a pre-season tournament of the late 70s and early 80s, is up for sale on eBay. It is thought a former director of the company, now trading as ArrivaWillhire, put the trophy up for auction.
The Blues, Norwich City, Colchester United and Cambridge United took part in the short-lived competition.
Town won the trophy on two of the three occasions it was played for, in 78/79 and 79/80, while Norwich won it in 80/81 and are therefore presumably the current holders.
TWTD would have thought the Canaries would have been more careful to keep hold of any silverware to which they are entitled.
