Murphy Not in Reserves - Ipswich Town News

Irish trialist Daryl Murphy will not be allowed to play in tonight's reserve game away at Derby County (KO 7pm). TWTD reported on Sunday that the Waterford United striker would be on trial at Playford Road this week.

International rules mean a player currently with a club from a foreign football association cannot play matches while on trial.

Manager Joe Royle told the club site that Murphy will be with the club for a week: "Our chief scout Colin Suggett has been informed about him and he's over here training with the squad now to see how he gets on.

"Unfortunately the rules and regulations state that he can't play for us in reserve team matches, though."

Murphy, out of contract and available on a Bosman free transfer, will therefore not be involved with Steve McCall's side at Pride Park.

The most senior players likely to be included against Derby are Matt Richards, Dean Bowditch and Pablo Couñago.

Squad: Supple, Synnott, Richards, Craig, Atay, Hogg, Collins, Sobers, Patten, Mitchell, Murray, Flack, Couñago, Bowditch, Clarke, Knights.
