Town will be one of a number of clubs watching South African central defender Dean Van Staten playing for Ridgeons League side Needham Market in a friendly against Mistley this evening.
Van Staten, 19, is currently with the University of Pretoria, who play in the Mvela Golden League, the second tier of South African football, but is keen to find a club in the UK.
Norwich, Colchester and Cambridge United are also sending representatives to look at the 6ft 4in player in action at Needham Market's Bloomfields.
Van Staten has been training with Needham Market for the last week and is a friend of a friend of Needham Market boss Mark Morsley who is happy to help him in his quest to find a club.
