Town Sell Medal - Ipswich Town News
Town have put a medal won by the 1981 team up for sale on an Internet auction site. The European Team of the Year title was awarded by France Football magazine and Adidas after the Blues had won the UEFA Cup, finished second in the league and reached the FA Cup semi-final during the 1980/81 campaign.
Two medals were issued and club media manager Terry Baxter says that Town will keep one, while giving fans the chance to own the other via ebay: "The medal in question has been sitting in a safe gathering dust for many years now along with an identical one which we have put on display in the boardroom.
"We are sure that supporters will be keen to own a part of the club's history, particularly marking such a successful time in that history.
"The club has a number of items that will be made available through the auction site, particularly a huge number of photographs (some signed by the player concerned), which will be scanned and archived here, with the originals then sold off to collectors."
