Chairman on Currie Deal - Ipswich Town News

Chairman David Sheepshanks says that the £250,000 signing of Darren Currie is a landmark in the club's recovery after last year's administration. Currie signed a two-and-a-half-year deal earlier today.

Sheepshanks said: "I am very pleased that we have been able to recruit Darren to join our promotion bid.

"After the hardships we have experienced, this is a landmark deal for Ipswich Town Football Club.

"The fact that we have been able to pay a fee for a player once more symbolises our recovery.

"We remain careful and prudent with our finances, however, further investment in loan notes, coupled with growing attendances and an attractive FA Cup tie, have all contributed to an improving situation that has enabled the board to make this investment.

"We wish Darren well and warmly welcome him to the club."
