Security Head Named - Ipswich Town News

Suffolk Police Superintendent Mick Warden has been appointed Town's new head of safety and security. Warden takes over from Geoff Sheppard who is stepping down.

Club secretary Sally Webb welcomed the new appointment: "I am delighted that Mick has agreed to join us.

"He brings with him a wealth of experience to assist us in our effort to continually improve safety and security in our rapidly expanding business. Like many of us who are privileged to work at Ipswich Town he is also a 'true Blue'."

Warden said: "I am very pleased to be taking up the post and building on the strong foundations put in place by my predecessor, Geoff Sheppard.

"Obviously these are exciting times at the club, both on and off the field, and I'm greatly looking forward to being part of its future.

"The safety and comfort of all fans, customers and staff attending Portman Road is paramount and I will endeavour to ensure this is achieved at all times"

Warden, 49, takes up his post on January 1st 2005.
