Petta to Wigan? - Ipswich Town News
Former Blue Bobby Petta could be lining-up against his old club later this season after receiving interest from Town's Championship competitors Wigan, and Leeds United. Petta has also criticised the way Bolton Wanderers handled his recent trial at the Reebok Stadium.
The 30-year-old Dutchman, whose contract with Celtic was recently cancelled by mutual consent, says Trotters' boss Sam Allardyce didn't even bother to have a look at him in a training match: "Remarkably enough, I did not get the chance to prove myself during a practice game.
"Last Thursday, my agent called me all of a sudden to tell me that the trial was over. I think that Bolton see more in Khalilou Fadiga. They have him under contract and now they want to go on with him after all."
But Petta says that he could well be in Championship action soon: "In the past few days, Leeds United and Wigan Athletic have called me.
"Wigan manager Paul Jewell especially wants to sign me very badly. The chances are that I will go to that club is reasonably big."
