U's Deny Murray Link - Ipswich Town News
New Cambridge United manager Steve Thompson has denied any interest in Town midfielder Antonio Murray. A local newspaper report earlier this week claimed that 20-year-old was set to make a loan move to the Abbey Stadium.
Thompson said: "Willie Donachie at Ipswich is a very good friend of mine and we've had a brief conversation about Lewis Price, but we haven't spoken about anything else.
"It was brief because I've had a million phone calls and messages to ring here, there and everywhere, and you can't do anything with games flying in left, right and centre.
"I've had two games in three days to prepare for, I've had to watch the Yeovil game, meet the players and speak to the press and people like that, and really I just want to get down to winning football matches.
"I understand it's all part of the game but I haven't had any contact with Ipswich about loaning a midfield player. I've spoken to one or two managers about players coming in, but not that one."
Town boss Joe Royle has also denied the report which appears to have been without foundation.
Second choice Town keeper Lewis Price ended his loan at Cambridge this week and is in the Town squad for the game against West Ham on New Year's Day.
