Currie Finding His Level - Ipswich Town News

Monday's two-goal hero Darren Currie says he is confident he could have been playing at Championship level much earlier in his career. The 30-year-old spent all of his time in the lower leagues until he joined Brighton in the summer.

Currie, who signed for the Blues for £250,000 just before Christmas, told the club site: "Playing here has opened up my eyes to what I have been missing all these years.

"I have always felt confident that I could play at this level. It has just taken me a long time to get here, but now I'm here I intend to enjoy every minute of it.

"I said to family and friends that I always thought it would be easier to play at Ipswich than it was at Brighton.

"With all due respect to Brighton, there are better players here and, being a good passing team, it has suited my game as well.

"Things are going well for me and the team at the moment, and I think it would be even more special for me personally if we win promotion to the Premiership because it has taken me so long to get to this level."
