Deal for McDonald - Ipswich Town News
Trialist Dean McDonald is set to be offered a deal which will keep him at Town until the end of the season. TWTD was first to report that the former Arsenal trainee was spending time with the Blues in December.
McDonald, released by the Gunners last summer, was involved in U18 games, including a 3-0 win over Fulham in which he scored twice. Ironically, the midfielder or striker also scored twice against the Blues for the Cottagers in a 5-2 Fulham win in October.
The 18-year-old, primarily a right-sided winger, returned to Town after Christmas and impressed in the reserve games against Watford and Portsmouth.
McDonald is expected to be in the reserves side at Coventry on Tuesday, as is John Paul Kelly who has also been on trial at Portman Road.
The former Liverpool midfielder has been away with the Irish U19 side this week, along with Town Academy striker Billy Clarke.
