Sobers Set for Boston - Ipswich Town News

Central defender Jerrome Sobers is set to join Boston United on a month's loan. Sobers, 18, signed for the Blues from non-league Ford United (now Redbridge) in February last year and has become a regular in the reserves.

Earlier this season manager Joe Royle praised the former painter and decorator's progress and he was included on the bench for the home game with Reading and the away match at Coventry, as well as for the Carling Cup tie with Brentford.

The move to the League Two club is likely to be designed to give the youngster senior experience rather than signalling his exit from the club.

While at York Street Sobers will team up with former Academy defender Lee Beevers, an U19 team-mate of Darren Bent, Ian Westlake, Lewis Price and Darren Ambrose.

Last season, Chris Hogg and Sam Morrow, both now with Hibs, spent time on loan with the Lincolnshire club, while Steve Burton, currently at Scarborough, Richard Logan, now with Peterborough, and Robert Dickinson, in non-league these days with Yorkshire Amateur, were also Pilgrims for a short period the season before.

The 6ft 2in centre-half is likely to make his debut for the Pilgrims at Wycombe on Saturday.
