Richard Wright will miss Saturday's game at Derby after it was revealed he had a small fracture in his left wrist. The Town keeper, missing for the first time in years last night, will have a cast on his wrist until next week when he will have an x-ray. He is expected to be fit for the away game at Liverpool on December 10th.
There was more turnstile woe for North Standers last night with queues even longer than usual. Seemingly a large number of the stiles were cash only and were refusing to take tickets.
Given that there only appeared to be five turnstiles actually open (see previous turnstile report on the website) this led to huge queues and to many fans missing up to fifteen minutes of the game.
Town had called for fans to arrive early, but with the traffic at a virtual standstill around the ground and trains a complete nightmare at the moment, it was impossible for many fans to do this. Surely all turnstiles need to be opened with possibly a number of the Britannia Stand stiles along Sir Alf Ramsey Way allowing North Stand fans in.
Once in the ground there was further hassle for fans with one of the food bars closed leaving just two for the entire 3,300 North Standers.
Richard Naylor is out for four weeks and not six as was reported yesterday. The striker is suffering with his knees again. He has been told that his left knee, which has a great dea of fluid on it, requires rest.
Former Town striker Neil Gregory was amongst the Canvey Island heroes last night as they beat Port Vale 2-1 (AET) in the FA Cup. Canvey Island now meet Southend in an Essex coast derby. Ex-Town defender John Kennedy also played while former youth player Adam Miller came on as sub. Former Blues midfield dynamo Glenn Pennyfather is their coach.
Ex-Town coach/director fo football and lover of amazingly defensive football Mick McGiven has been released from his job at Chelsea. McGiven had been reserve team coach but Claudio Ranieri has removed all of the old coaching staff. Along with McGiven Graham Rix and Ray Wilkins also find themselves out of work.
