Bent Doesn't Score - Ipswich Town News
Striker Darren Bent drew a rare blank for the England U21s as they defeated Azerbaijan 2-0 at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium. Bent played the first 81 minutes before being replaced by former Blue Darren Ambrose.
Bent, winning his 12th cap, did have the ball in the net in the second half but the goal was correctly ruled out for offside.
The Town striker had a good opportunity to add to his eight U21 goals in the first half from a Kieran Richardson cross but the Azerbaijan keeper was out quickly to block.
Both England's goals came in the first half of a largely drab game, John Welsh and Dean Ashton the scorers.
