Ambrose Linked - Ipswich Town News
Tabloid newspapers claim that Town are interested in former Blue Darren Ambrose. The midfielder is reportedly out of Newcastle manager Graeme Souness's plans and is set to leave St James' Park in the summer.
The Magpies have, according to the reports, put a £1 million price-tag on the 20-year-old's head, the same fee for which he left an administration-hit Town in March 2003.
If the claim is correct, there is little chance of the Blues paying a fee of anything approaching £1 million unless the club is in the Premiership next season.
Boss Joe Royle, generally keen to play wingers in his sides, was a big fan of Ambrose, although he wasn't always able find a role for him during his early days as Town manager when the Blues' shortage of defensive personnel forced him to play a 3-5-2 formation.
