Pétursson Signs - Ipswich Town News
Young Icelandic goalkeeper Óskar Pétursson put pen to paper on a two-year Academy scholarship on Thursday. TWTD revealed in early March that 16-year-old Pétursson had agreed to join the Blues.
Pétursson, considered the most promising keeper in Scandinavia, has interested a number of English clubs and spent time on trial at Wolves earlier this season.
The U17 international made the bench for his current club Grindavik at the age of 15 and has played for their senior side in a number of recent pre-season friendlies, the Icelandic season running spring to autumn.
Academy recruitment officer Malcolm Moore was in Iceland in March to negotiate the signing of Pétursson and also to discuss a possible tie-up between Town and Grindavik.
The Blues are interested in adding other Icelanders to the Academy ranks, including defender Björn Orri Hermannsson, striker Viktor Unnar Illugason and Runólfur Sigmundsson.
