Armstrong Fee Confirmed! - Ipswich Town News
Middlesbrough are confirming that a fee of £800,000 has been agreed with Town for the purchase of Alun Armstrong. Town are expected to agree personal terms with the striker who may sign as soon as today.
Beleaguered Boro manager Bryan Robson said: "Ipswich Town have made contact and we have accepted their bid and Alun is talking personal terms with them. I would have to say I think this move will go through. I have brought a lot of strikers into the club, obviously Alun has had a lot of injury problems over the last few years and I felt it was fair on the lad to let him go and get his chance and have a go at another club. With the strikeforce we have at this club I haven't really given him a chance this season and I think it is a move which is best for him and best for our football club. He needs a challenge somewhere else. He has been very brave to come through what he has injury wise, but he needs a fresh challenge."
The deal for Armstrong once again has fans talking about David Johnson's future. Just last week there were stories linking him with Manchester City, while Middlesbrough themselves have been linked with him in the past.
