Fab Also a Worry - Ipswich Town News

Full-back Fabian Wilnis is a second injury worry ahead of Saturday's crucial home game with Crewe Alexandra. Like fellow defender David Unsworth, Wilnis has an ankle injury.

The Dutchman turned his ankle in training and manager Joe Royle is keeping his fingers crossed that it doesn't deteriorate in the days prior to the game.

Crewe also have a number of injuries and manager Dario Gradi doesn't expect defenders Colin Murdock and Chris McCready to play any role at Portman Road: "Chris's knee locked up towards the end of training on Monday. That was the injury he got at Gillingham and it was causing him some discomfort.

"He's not having much luck with injuries and I can't believe he is going to be all right for Saturday.

"Colin has a long-standing groin injury which will need rehabilitation during the summer. I'll be surprised if either of them are fit."

On top of those problems, left-back Anthony Tonkin has an illness which may keep him out of action.

Better news for Gradi is that young full-back Billy Jones, tipped to be the next big star out of Gresty Road, is back after a lengthy absence and striker Steve Jones may also be in contention for a place by the end of the week.
