Bramble for England? - Ipswich Town News

Ex-Town centre-half Titus Bramble is being touted as a potential full England international. The 23-year-old Newcastle defender started to fulfil his early Town promise during the latter stages of the 2004/05 season and has impressed England scout Glenn Roeder.

Former West Ham boss Roeder watched Bramble in action against Chelsea on the final day of the season and says he feels the former England U21 has a big future: "I first saw Bramble playing for Ipswich against Manchester United at Portman Road when he could have been no more than 17, but he does not seem to have found any level of consistency since then.

"But he is playing in an old man's position, I know because that's where I played, and that consistency will come with experience.

"On Sunday he never put a foot wrong and I have sent in a glowing report about him to Sven-Goran Eriksson.

"Bramble is big, strong and powerful, but what I also like about him is that, unlike a lot of central defenders, he can get the ball down and spray it around a bit.

"Obviously, even with Jonathan Woodgate out injured, England are very strong at the heart of their defence, with Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Sol Campbell, Ledley King and now Zat Knight, but Titus Bramble can now start pushing himself for a place in the full squad."
