Davis Undecided - Ipswich Town News

Keeper Kelvin Davis is still undecided whether he will join Premiership new boys Sunderland. The Blues accepted what David Sheepshanks has described as a "seven-figure fee" earlier in the week and Davis has been in talks on Wearside.

But despite two days of negotiations, the former Luton and Wimbledon man says personal terms are yet to be agreed: "I have been and spoken to Mick McCarthy but it's not cut and dried. I have signed nothing yet."

Although he is likely to be keen to move back into the Premiership, Davis may be concerned that he might not be first choice at the Stadium of Light, with Mart Poom last season's regular stopper until he picked up an injury and Norwegian Thomas Myhre ready to sign a new deal.

Reports this morning are linking West Ham with a move for Davis, a switch may well suit the 28-year-old more than relocating to the North-East.

Davis currently lives in Bury St Edmunds but is from Leighton Buzzard where his family and his wife's family are still based.

Elsewhere, Wigan manager Paul Jewell has denied any interest in Town midfielder Ian Westlake, a rumour which appeared to start as a rather obvious wind-up on the TWTD Message Board yesterday. Jewell said: "We are looking to bring in some new players but Ian Westlake is not one that we are interested in."
