Town Miss Target - Ipswich Town News

The Blues have missed out on signing Gillingham full-back Nyron Nosworthy, according to reports. The out-of-contract 24-year-old is set to join Premiership new boys Sunderland, snubbing apparent interest from Town and Norwich.

Sunderland are continuing their search for a goalkeeper with Kelvin Davis all but certain to turn down his proposed move to the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats are now reported to have targeted released Manchester United stopper Roy Carroll.

Davis now appears likely to join West Ham with a move for the former England U21 international expecgted imminently.

A move to a London club is understood to interest Davis more than relocating to Sunderland. The 28-year-old is keen to remain closer to his family in Leighton Buzzard, where his wife's parents also live.

Crystal Palace are the latest club to be linked with a move for out-of-contract Town midfielder Tommy Miller.

The 26-year-old has held talks with Sunderland and Leeds, while Celtic were also reported to be interested over the weekend. Miller's local club Sunderland appear to be favourites to sign the former Hartlepool man once he returns from his honeymoon.

Watford are now reported to have priced Town target Heidar Helguson at £2 million. Joe Royle had pencilled in Helguson as Darren Bent's possible replacement but was put off by Watford's valuation, previously reported to be in the region of £1 million.

Helguson has a year left on his contract and has turned down a new contract with the Hornets. Interest from a number of clubs, including Sunderland, Wigan and Sheffield United, is likely to have inflated Watford's asking price.

Former Blue Gavin Johnson has signed for League Two side Boston United on a one-year deal.
