Bowditch Called Up - Ipswich Town News

Striker Dean Bowditch has been called into the England squad for the UEFA European U19 Championships in Northern Ireland next month. Bowditch has already won seven caps for the U19s, although he is yet to score a goal at this level.

England face France, Norway and Armenia at the group stage with two sides going through to the knock-out phase.

Coach Martin Hunter says he expects his side be amongst the challengers to win the competition: "We are all looking forward to the tournament and hopeful we can do well.

"I'm happy with the squad. We've got some really good players who I am looking forward to seeing in action.

"It wasn't easy cutting my list of players down to 18, but it is good to have that sort of selection problem as it means who have strength in depth.

"The three sides we are up against are all there on merit and it will be a really good test for my boys to see how they do."

England U19s: Dean Bowditch (Ipswich Town), Dexter Blackstock (Southampton), Martin Cranie (Southampton), Stuart Giddings (Coventry City), Tom Heaton (Manchester United), Lee Holmes (Derby County), Phil Ifil (Tottenham Hotspur), Ryan Jarvis (Norwich City), Richard Jones (Manchester United), Grant Leadbitter (Sunderland), David Martin (MK Dons), Anthony McMahon (Middlesbrough), James Morrison (Middlesbrough), Matthew Mills (Southampton), Mark Noble (West Ham United), Chinedum Onouha (Manchester City), Ryan Smith (Arsenal), Andy Taylor (Middlesbrough).
