Shaka on Joe's List? - Ipswich Town News
Shaka Hislop is one of the names on Joe Royle's list of potential new goalkeepers, according to a national newspaper report this morning. Hislop, 36, is out of contract having been released by Portsmouth.
Royle is looking for an experienced keeper to replace Kelvin Davis and vie for a first team place with Lewis Price.
Hislop's availability on a free transfer saw his name linked with the Blues as soon as it became apparent that Kelvin Davis was on his way out of Portman Road.
Royle is widely tipped to want to re-sign Nottingham Forest's Paul Gerrard, who he has worked with before at Oldham, Everton and with Town, however Gary Megson's club may ask a fee which could persuade the Town manager to look elsewhere. Royle will not want to spend too much of his transfer kitty on the new goalkeeper.
The Blues appear to have missed out on Rotherham stopper Mike Pollitt who seems destined to join Wigan later in the week.
