Cardiff at Home Opener - Ipswich Town News

Town's 2005/06 Championship campaign begins with a home game against Cardiff City on Saturday, August 6th. A midweek trip to Loftus Road to meet QPR follows three days later.

The opening month continues with an away game at Leicester, a home match with Sheffield Wednesday, a visit to the Den to take on Millwall and then a Portman Road fixture with Preston North End.

The first games many fans will look for are the two derbies with Norwich City and the Canaries are scheduled to be at Portman Road on Saturday, September 17th, although the match is likely to switch to the Sunday as has been the case in previous years.

Town are down to travel to Carrow Road on Saturday, February 4th, however, this is also likely to move to the following day.

Christmas sees a gap of nine days between December 17th, when Town are at Sheffield Wednesday, and the Boxing Day home match with Crystal Palace. Two days later the Blues make their inaugural appearance at Hull City's new KC Stadium.

Luton make the journey from Bedfordshire to Suffolk on New Year's Eve, before Town travel to Stoke on January 2nd for their opening game of 2006.

The games around Easter are Brighton (H) on Easter Saturday and Watford (A) on Easter Monday.

Next summer's World Cup means there are no fixtures in May (unless Town are involved in the play-offs) and April appears to offer a reasonably friendly run-in: Luton (A), Stoke (H), Brighton (H), Watford (A), Derby (H), Plymouth (A).

Bonkers midweek away trip of the season is a Tuesday, September 27th trek to Burnley.

Once again TWTD will not have a full list of fixtures on the site, the price of a licence being prohibitively high. The full list of fixtures can be found here.
