Town to Face Újpest - Ipswich Town News

Újpesti TE are the Budapest side the Blues will face on their proposed pre-season tour of Hungary. TWTD reported last week that Town could be off to central Europe as part of their preparations for 2005/06 with games against Diósgyőri VTK and a Budapest-based club pencilled in.

The tour, which is yet to be confirmed, will see Town arrive in Budapest on Thursday, July 21st with a game against Újpesti TE, also known as Újpest, the following day. Újpest play in nothern Budapest

On Sunday, July 24th the Blues travel to Miskolc, 120 miles to the north-east of Budapest, to play Diósgyőri VTK.

Both teams play in the top Hungarian league, Újpesti Te finishing fourth last season and Diósgyőri ninth.

Diósgyőri merged with Balaton during the season and were subsequently suspended and then readmitted to their league pending an appeal.

Last season Town took Újpest youngster Zoltán Stieber on trial. The 16-year-old midfielder player is due back for a second spell in the new season.
